Location of the role: Ottawa or Fredericton

The IBM Qradar product lines are the leading SIEM in the market place. Our IBM Security development group is seeking an experienced leader to join our growing team in Ottawa, ON or Fredericton, NB

This senior position includes the day to day management of local development teams and as the Quality Assurance focal for the worldwide organization. Individuals must have experience in leading development groups and proven background in quality assurance methodologies and implementation. The position will report in to the Director of development and work alongside the CTO and Site leads.

Some of the responsibilities of this role:
  • Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for their testing organization, consistently look beyond the current release and may have several deliverables not tied to a particular product release.
  • Drive quality across all disciplines, providing guidance, feedback, and suggestions to improve quality practices across an entire engineering team
  • Drive long-term improvement of the organization testing process and growth, thinking long-term and laying out a path for solving big issues over a long period
  • Public speaking and presenting to industry professionals and customers; Presenting quality plans, improvements, goals and targets to senior management
  • Identify what tools and technologies can be implemented, aligning with that already used across the broader development function and in-line with the skill-set of the team
  • Stay up to speed on process, practice and technology developments to ensure they are brought in-house and enhance the solutions applied to the testing problems
  • Focused on defining the testing process and setting the test team up for continued success. Monitor, optimize, mentor, collaborate and continually improve the test team

The Successful candidate will have:
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with implementation and administration of Software Quality Assurance metrics, such as defect profiles and performance to entry/exit criteria
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills a must. Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective matter
  • Strong experience with managing and working with world-wide distributed team members
  • Solid experience affecting change not only across the testing community, but between other engineering disciplines.
