The Weather Company, an IBM Business, is seeking an Information Security Engineer to join the Global Technology Organization’s Infrastructure Security team. The Infrastructure Security team is responsible for formulating and maintaining security monitoring and controls for The Weather Company across all of its platforms and systems. The group works with business owners and developers to evaluate products against an array of business and legal guidelines including standards set forth by regulations like the GDPR.
The Information Security team supports products used by millions worldwide. You will support the long term viability of products and services ranging from weather.com to advanced airline and energy weather systems. The scale of the cloud agnostic infrastructure and platforms you will support is immense, servicing many billions of requests per day. This position provides the right candidate with many opportunities to advance and become an essential part of some of the most recognized brands in the world today. You will be working with technologies including Cloud, NoSql, Big Data & Analytics, and Cognitive Computing technologies, becoming an important part of the software development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have a scientific approach to technology and security, backed up with strong development and DevOps experience. Having familiarity with functional programming languages, especially SCALA, is important to providing the level of expertise required. Understanding how developed code is integrated with infrastructure environments will aid the right candidate in providing excellent guidance in understanding complex security findings; optimizing our team’s interactions with busy development groups. Key to long term success in this role is an ability to work with development teams in building automated processes to support a continuous delivery environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, and code reviews.
• Provide expert advice and consultancy on remediation of security findings.
• Provide training & technical leadership to other resources.
• Instruct leadership around technical issues aiding in prioritization and closure of gaps.
