Employees in this role work directly with business unit management in the implementation of employee compensation program including base pay, GDP and equity programs. The role includes providing advice and counsel on individual alternatives within guidelines as well as recommendations on out-of-guideline actions. Employees in this role , collaboration with line management, implement, modify and track employee compensation programs consistent with Corporate and business until direction. The employees in this role act as functional experts for the organization's HR team and line management. Responsibilities include providing training and communications, directly and/or in coordination with other support teams (e.g..service centers) for HR and line managers regarding compensation program implementation.
This role also includes analyzing and interpreting marketplace and internal data to develop recommendations and actions to address individual employee circumstances in order to support the unit's ability to attract, motivate and retain effective workforce. Utilization of analytical software an compensation tools is a basic part of the role.

Compensation professionals engaged in the operational aspects of IBM's compensation programs will have primary responsibility for day to day activities such as implementing design changes and resolving individual employee quest or issues. In addition, this job role requires frequent teaming with other IBM functions on matters involving legal compliance, employee relations, employee communications and financial reporting related to the programs.
